I had been looking for a lamp that fit my color/space/lighting needs for a long time. Well, this did the trick. A very high end looking lamp for the price! I have read reviews here that it was hard to put together, but I did not find it to be so. I am no handyman (or in my case woman) by any stretch, but I put this together alone in 30 minutes with a lot less expletives than many other self-assembled pieces of furniture in my home. I think if you were short, 5'5" or below, you might have a problem with the taller of the three arms and installing the lampshade. I am tall, so I had no problem. My ONLY complaint is the tiny little hex screws used to tighten the arms are about the size of poppy seeds. I found the best way to install those was to place it on the allen wrench and use the wrench as a handle to put the screw in the hole.
The lighting is fabulous!! Torchiere lamps place too much light on the ceiling for me and too indirect. These however are perfect diffused lighting to read by or just lighten up a dark corner and eliminate the need for a separate wall hanging since they look like a piece of modern art. The shades are a neutral burlap-ish material and give off a very natural light. I would describe the style of lamp as overall modern or casual living. Bottom line: I could not BE more pleased! The only thing I cant comment on is longevity/lifespan-- but its just a lamp. It should last a while.

You Light Up My Life!
By Carey Hauer
I received the lamp in a huge box that was wrapped very well, triple layer with really annoying styrofoam that just crumbled when you took the pieces out. The base of the lamp is solid marble (I think) it's chipped and a larger chunk was missing but good thing was that this was going to be hidden. The lamp base and center section were ridiculous to put together. The threading was not very good but after wiggling it back and forth and much swearing it finally came together. Trust me, I was determined because there was no way I could get this back in that mayhem of boxes.
All that being said, I LOVE this lamp! It is absolutely perfect. My sofa sits low (2.5 inches from the ground) and this lamp base fits right underneath and in the corner. I was able to move the three arms to where I wanted them. It's great that I can turn one one, two or three lights at a time. I keep them all on and it lights up my room beautifully. I do recommend getting the light bulbs with the mirrored silver bottoms to reflect the light up and out. This is because I placed in the regular bulbs and it was like looking into the sun. But on the upside I think I may have gotten a nice tan.
Overall, if you are looking for a nice statement piece that looks much more expensive than what this costs and need a good lighting source....you won't be disappointing in this lamp.

We bought this because we were looking for a lamp that would light most of our large living room and not cause major glare on our television like the ceiling light tends to do. Lamp looks great and was easy to assemble by 1 person in less than 1/2 hour. It lights the room well and we have received many compliments on it. 4 star vs 5 because we were hoping the lamp could easily be converted to a touch sensor, but the solid stone base leaves no room for the sensor. We chose this arc style lamp so that we could place it behind furniture, but the on/off dial is located on the stand about 2 1/2 feet off of the floor. Since we can't use the touch sensor kit we bought for the lamp, it's a bit of a pain to turn on and off if you place it behind furniture like we did. Other than this, we are very happy with the purchase!
