Hard to say I love a printer but so far everything has been great
By Soul Eater
Hard to say I love a printer but so far everything has been great.
It's a little disappointing that no disc or USB cable was included but once I got Printer up and running I see that they really aren't needed. Not much in the way of instruction sheet which surprised me. I was instructed to go to a Epson website and after that set up was easy and a instructions booklet was downloaded. I did my wireless hook up to my home network through the printer's screen and it was a piece of cake- as long as you know your Router's SSID, password and the printers IP address. Getting other laptops hooked up was also very easy.
Expect about 10 Mins. to download the set up from Epson website, another 5 minutes (probably less) for your computer to process the information and another one time requirement for the first computer to link with the printer to do a firmware update for another 10 minutes.
I purchased primarily due to Consumer Reports testing and rating of this printer which said this was the best A-I-O for its type and price range. I strongly agree. All A-I-O's have a weakness and / or lack features. Except this one which was rated good or very good for all aspects. About the only 'weakness' my research came up with is the printer does not print borderless pictures. I do not plan on using this printer for most photos. I have a photo printer for that. I also read one reviewer complaining that knock-off print cartridges were not available for cheap ink but I don’t have any plans of taking a chance on a valuable piece of office equipment.
For good, free reviews check out:
It does still print B&W if you run out of colored ink. And what sold me on this model over the HP high end model was that the HP uses a lot of ink while idling, where this unit doesn’t.
I also have to add that Amazon vendor -TEKENVY- shipped the order so fast I almost didn't have time to tell my wife I had ordered the printer. Great vendor!

Great for the money, but small imperfections in printing text
By Michael Hilliard
A good, basic workgroup printer I purchased for our small design studio to replace an old Tektronix color laser printer, for 1/8th the cost of my original machine. I loved the idea we could print rough color comps inexpensively and have an excellent quality flat-bed scanner as part of the package – but I have to say that while the color is decent and consistent, there are minor hickeys in the printing that give a ripple to type, even on the finest print settings.
We've used large format Epson printers for proofing for more than 15 years and found them slow, but deadly accurate for reproduction and frequently hand our proofs to commercial printers for reference. I'd hoped this would be capable of similar precision (obviously not the same exacting color from only four inks instead of eight), but that's been my only disappointment and really unrealistic for as little as this machine cost.
I'd highly recommend it for casual small office or draft printing usage, but pass if you'll need the higher, more precise standards of a color laser printer.

This printer has lots of great features that are all easy to use
By B. P.
This printer has lots of great features that are all easy to use. The ink usage is very conservative, yet the text and graphics are very bright, clear, and crisp. It is a bit large, but it does just about everything and is very user friendly. I would highly recommend this printer even though it is a little more expensive than most of the printers with the same features because it should save you money in the long run with it's low ink usage/cost, quality photo printing, and Wi-Fi abilities.
