They really do make a difference.
By Marianne Salinas
Huh... Wow! I didn't think they'd be too different from the usual cheap-o leads, but when comparing them to my Pentel Super Hi-Polymer 0.5 leads, a competitor of these, you really can feel a difference. These write surprisingly smoothly! So smoothly that the Pentel ones, which I'd been a fan of before then, feel scratchy in comparison! They also don't get worn down as quickly as other leads, which I noticed while writing something to compare the two leads.
In the photo I've attached comparing these 0.5mm Uni leads vs. 0.5mm Pentel leads, you can see that the Pentel leads wore down more quickly, so the lines had become "smudgier" and uneven rather than sharp-looking, even-width, concise lines, like the Uni leads. Not only does writing look nicer with these leads, this means they also last a bit longer.
I've been using these for a few weeks (they came in SUPER early; supposed to have come on Dec. 26, but I've had them for weeks, now), and, in my experience, I've only broken a point once or twice. (I'm very heavy-handed when I write, so that's really good!) They seem a little pricey, but if you have to write often & you're heavy-handed like me, these leads will make a difference in your life.

I didn't believe the hype....at first.
By Scott King
I was always the "how can lead be any different" guy. Always buying the cheapest, I tolerated the constant breaking. I thought that this was part of mechanical pencil life. However, with a desire to not snap my lead every two seconds, I decided to try this out.
I can only compare this lead to the absolute cheapest (because that's what I am and that's what I bought). The difference is unbelievable. After using this lead for multiple weeks (a few hours a day), I still have not had an unexpected break. Also, this lead lasts incredibly long compared to that cheap stuff I will no longer touch. Couple this great lead with a great mechanical pencil and you'll be one happy writer.
On a side note, I also upgraded my pencil to a Japanese Kuru Toga. I don't know if the new pencil plays any part in writing so nicely. If it does, I suggest picking up both.

Am I really giving a 5-star review for pencil lead? Yes, it's that good.
I use mechanical pencils almost all day long. On top of that, I'm a bit of a 'writing instrument snob' and I always buy quality stuff. So after getting tired of lead constantly breaking in my mechanical pencils, I searched for something better on Amazon and found this. I have to say, it's as good as advertised. Very sturdy lead that also writes extremely well. Buy this.
